The urli bowl is made using several different processes. The first step involves the selection and sourcing of high-quality stone from trusted dealers. After that, cutting and shaping is done while minimising or eliminating waste. The stone is then expertly carved, and the necessary inlay work is done on the carved bowl. Sanding and smoothening is done, followed by polishing.

The significance of having a stone urli at home follows. Water in the urli bowl, in general, indicates money, hence the water element should flow inwards to signify wealth flow. As a result, lotus marble urli filled with water and surrounded by flowers or lemons set in front of the main door is considered lucky.

Bowls are generally made from a solid block of marble or stone, so it does not require any kind of assembly.
