A hole is drilled into the MOP shell where the hand saw will be inserted. The design is then cut by skillfully moving the saw perpendicularly against the mother of pearl shells. Each piece is then hand-sanded to eliminate rough edges created by the saw.

The design is carefully inlaid into the wood creating a beautiful MOP inlay design after it has been arranged. A water-based glue is used to temporarily secure the pieces of mother of pearls so that their outlines can be traced precisely. The mother of pearl pieces is then delicately removed, without breaking or chipping them. Using precise chisels, a shallow silhouette is carved into the wood.

Into the carved silhouette, the pieces of Mother of Pearl design are rearranged to make a perfect shape. In order to eliminate cavities created by the pearl's irregularities, fine saw dust is used under the design. Then the craftsmen gently use the hammer to fit each piece MOP shell in the wood. After that glue is added to secure all the mother of pearl pieces. To prevent a gap between the design and the wood when the pieces are inserted, the craftsmen must cut only inside the lines. Then the entire piece of furniture is sanded and smoothened followed with wood polish. The carved MOP inlay pieces are visible with the wooden texture.
